When I was in the 8th grade I found myself enamored with the anatomy of the human body in health class. I was able to memorize all the bone structures with ease, it just stuck. During that time I remember being at a church function on a Tuesday evening, it was late and there were 2 guys I knew talking. One of my friends said to the other “I am going to be a chiropractor one day”. It was at that moment that I had my first true, what I call ‘defining moment’ in my life. I just knew that was what I was supposed to do. What is surprising though is personally I had never been to a chiropractor; never seen one; never talked to one…I just knew it had something to do with health and that chiropractors were individual providers…working for themselves in a field that made a difference in people’s lives/health…and that is what I wanted to do with my life. From that point on I never changed my mind.
After nearly 3 decades in practice I found myself drawn to another educational endeavor. Seeking out how to best help the most serious and challenging of patient presentations in my office. Patients suffering from primary spinal DISC conditions.
I chose to go back to the university and continue my education, gain knowledge, learn the technology, understand the research and gain a confidence in providing debilitated DISC patients the best opportunity to recover. I am now able to restore their ability to return to the activities that bring passion and joy into their lives, when previously these patients lived in hopeless despair.
I am dual certified in Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD); I have a Masters Certificate in NSSD from the IMABSD; I have been an instructor at the national certification program for NSSD, my office is an IDD certified facility in NSSD and in 2018 I was honored to be appointed to the International Medical Board for Spinal Decompression (IMABSD).
I chose this path because for so many I am truly my patients last hope.
By helping patients avoid toxic narcotics, risky epidural injections and often unnecessary spinal surgeries, I am fulfilling my mission, my path, my purpose and my destiny as a Doctor of Chiropractic. And after decades of practice I can truly say I am more excited now than I was on the first day I began in practice way back in 1987.
